Challenge #40~Make your own stamp!

Heather here with your challenge this week. It's time to make your own stamp! I recently saw something on pinterest to wrap some twine around an acrylic block and stamp with it. I have a hard time with designing masculine cards, and I thought this would make a great background for a masculine birthday card! Let's take a look at what the Paper Girls came up with this week!

Heather used twine wrapped around an acrylic block.

Charity used a nubby soap holder dipped in white pigment ink.

Jessica used a small bottle of Elmer's glue for an "Eye" miss you card.

Michele used a marker cap.

Erica inked up an embossing folder.

Kristy used acrylic stamp blocks dipped in ink pads to make her own background paper.

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with for this challenge. You have until 11:59 MDT on September 28th to link up your project to be entered into this drawing.

As always, there will be a great prize for our lucky winner!

And then there were 13...

We interrupt your Friday for this exciting announcement!
As you know, Judy and Sheryl have stepped down from the Paper Girls design team. And while we are very sad to see them go, this gave us the opportunity to expand our team even more.
We have added not 1, not 2, but 6 new girls to the Paper Girls team!!!
You will recognize them from having played along in many of our challenges. A few of them were even guest designers for us in the past.
Let's meet them!

Jessica Arrant

I’ve been scrapbooking since fall 2008 when I realized that I just had to tell the story behind the thousands of pictures that we’d taken of our then 8 month old. We now have two boys that run around like little tornadoes, they are so much fun! When we’re not trying to quell the storm, my husband and I balance his graduate studies and my full-time job as a barista. It’s during the boys’ daily quiet time that I get to pursue my passion for crafting.

Misty Buck
I think I must have been born with a creative heart. I need to be doing something with my hands at all the times or I don't feel like I'm accomplishing much. I have enjoyed scrapbooking and card making for the past 18 years but only really got into stamping about ten years ago!!! I earned my bachelor's degree in Architectural Design from the University of New Mexico. I now run my own small business from home and work at being a domestic goddess. I am married to my best friend and biggest supporter. We have four children (3 boys and a girl) who I am blessed to be able to stay at home with. I love gardening and canning homemade jam...oh did I forget to mention I LOVE to stamp ;). I try to keep my blog, Li'l Buck's Creations, up to date with all my craftiness.

Michele Duffy
Hi, my name is Michele and I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. Stamping, scrapping and card making give me a much needed crafty break from my job as an engineer. I like to stamp and craft alongside my 3 year old daughter. I tend to prefer a more clean and simple style on my cards, but I like to layer up embellishments on my scrapbook layouts too. When I’m not crafting, I like to ski and read, and hang out with my husband and daughter. I’d love it if you would come visit my blog: http://about-the-paper.blogspot.com/

Cathryn Hanson

I am a SAHM from Edmonton, Alberta Canada. My passion for all things scrappy has grown while raising 5 wonderful children Kelsie (28), Lacey (26), Megan (24), Nolen (17), and Jacob (16), and more recently spoiling my beautiful granddaughters Blake who is 3 and her new sister Taylor. I also have my golden retriever Zoey and my 2 spoiled cats Marlow and O'Malley! With so much to inspire me, you can find me up late most nights creating LO's, cards and projects. I also enjoy sewing and use this often while working with paper and just about anything else crafty that catches my eye!!!!

Deborah Johnson

My name is Deborah Johnson and I'm a scrapbooker who happens to make cards, altered art, sew and cook.  (Notice I left out the important stuff like cleaning and laundry??)  In my spare time, I'm a full-time middle school English Language Arts teacher and have been doing so for the past twenty years.  My adventures into scrapbooking started when my kids were born, they are 14 and 12 now!  I love taking photos and have managed to take thousands while scrapping only hundreds.  Being a part of an online scrapping community has really pushed my developing skills and provided me with a sounding board when I'm not happy with a layout or card.  Some of my best friends are the gals that I have met through scrapping.  My blog can be found here: http://scrappinthelittlethings.blogspot.com/
Becci Manies

I started crafts as a child, and specifically scrapbooking after my first daughter was born, almost 6 years ago. I had so many photos and I wanted to do something with them. I had no idea how involved I would become in paper crafts. I do many types of crafts but paper crafts I do most often - I make many cards each month for friends and family birthdays.
My favorite type of projects are gift projects - from cards to altered projects. I am a huge fan of October Afternoon, they're my favorite manufacturer. I currently also serve on the design teams for SWAT and Practical Scrappers.

We are SO thrilled to have these ladies join our team! You will love the work that they are going to bring to the blog. Please drop by their blogs and welcome them to The Paper Girls Challenge!

Challenge #39: Wired Up!

Hi!  It's Kristy here with our first challenge of September.  But before I get to that, I need to take care of a little sad news for The Paper Girls.  Judy and Sheryl have decided to step down as Paper Girls.  We will miss you greatly here on our page, but we hope you will still participate in a few challenges!  You will always be Paper Girls to us!!!
Moving on to the Challenge #39 - Wired Up! For this challenge, we want to see you use wire in fun and different ways.  Wire can be anything from jewelry wire, paper clips, even staples.  As you can see, we have all used wire very different ways on our projects!
Here are a couple layouts I have made using wire:

I used thin gauge wire to add a little interest on this page.  I didn't even bother unwinding the wire from the packaging!

On this layout, I use a jig to shape the title with heavier gauge wire.

The Other Paper Girls made some great projects that showcase wire in multiple ways:

Charity twisted wire into fun loops to add accents to her card.

Heather's hanger paper clip is a perfect resting spot for this dress.

Amber wound wire behind her leaves and made her own heart paper clip. Wow!

Erica used a shaped paper clip and also added some fun gold twist ties to accent her embellishment.

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with for this wire challenge. You have until 11:59 MDT on September 14th to link up your project to be entered into this drawing.

As always, there will be a great prize for our lucky winner!

And now......
